Who can teach PASS PLUS?
Approved Driving Instructors (ADI) who are suitably qualified may register with DSA to teach PASS PLUS. To find out if you qualify, and to register, use the contact details provided in the sidebar.

What does the course involve?
The syllabus is divided into six modules, designed by DSA to develop the skills and knowledge of newly qualified drivers and broaden their driving experience.

Each course must consist of a minimum of six hours training. This does not necessarily mean six sessions - the number of sessions required will depend on the ability and progress of the individual pupil. All the PASS PLUS training must take place after the pupil has passed their test.

You record each pupil's progress on a Training Report form. A Progress Record is also provided for each pupil to keep a record of their progress. When they successfully complete the course, you send the completed Training Report Form to DSA, who then issue a Certificate of Completion to the pupil to enable them to claim their insurance discount.

This is all explained thoroughly in the Instructor's guide, which is sent to instructors when they register to teach PASS PLUS.

It also contains

  • Training Report Forms
  • Pupil's Guides
  • Progress Records
  • a list of participating insurers
  • promotional leaflets

An explanatory DVD or video is also available on request.

Who can you teach?
PASS PLUS is open to newly qualified drivers, generally those who have held a full driving licence for less than twelve months. If a person has held a licence for longer than a year, they should check that they will be eligible for the discounts on offer from their insurance company before undertaking the course.

How do people find out about the scheme?
As well as press coverage and posters displayed in driving test centres, driving examiners give a magazine to all successful 'L' test candidates, containing details about PASS PLUS. But obviously the best placed person to promote the scheme to new drivers is you, their instructor.

How do i enrol to teach PASS PLUS?
To enrol as a PASS PLUS instructor, send a cheque/postal order made payable to DSA for £35.00 for Starter Pack and £28.00 for Refill Pack to the address in the sidebar. Remember to include your ADI number and postal address for your Starter Pack. You may also register with a credit or debit card using the phone number in the sidebar.
